Unpaved Future.
Unpaved Future.

I'll pick this shot as my best shot of 2017, one that I took just a couple of days ago. I was chocked by the symbolism of this scene I saw walking out of a small refugee camp during an assignment. The formation of the kids "protection" the unpaved road "future" and the inefficient means to get through "small car".  I'm picking this one without even looking in my archive and I'm doing so emotionally rather than artistically.

Sometimes I forget what I'm doing and spend some quality time interacting with my newly met little friends.

Old beautiful games
Old beautiful games

I was good at this game when I was a kid. Was too excited ti see those kids playing on the road. for this shot I asked the driver to stop the car at a distance so they don't have to clear the road.

Welcome to my world
Welcome to my world

Every time I visit a refugees camp or gathering, I kind of know what to expect.

Energetic clans of kids playing all type of outdoors activities that would do whatever it takes to grab my camera's attention. However, I would always find one or 2 exceptions, those are lonely kids, completely detached and isolated. They are the ones who squeeze my heart to a breakpoint.

Ironsmith Knights
Ironsmith Knights

As from a King Arthur’s movie cast, Ibrahim and Amareddine, are two adorable Syrian refugees brothers that work at a blacksmith workshop. I couldn’t resist taking a picture of them as they were playing Warriors-Knights by wearing aluminium ducts in their arms as armour. They got all excited to pause for me but asked me to do it fast as they didn't want to get caught by the shop owner.

Almost every tent I entered had a new born baby. Fortunately, 400,000 Syrian refugee kids have been successfully subscribed in Lebanese schools for this 2015-2016 season!

One of the striking scenes I've witnessed at almost all refugees camps I've visited is how kids are willing to take care of their newborn or younger brothers.

there were too many people visiting that tent but this little beautiful girl picked Niette Kelley, "UNHCR Regional Representative for Lebanon" to sit by and hold her arm in a very tender way. I was so touched by that gesture.

A special moment for both, a Syrian refugee teenager and Isabella Lövin, Swedish minister for international development cooperation at one of the refugees camps in the Bekaa Valley.

The energy and power of smile a refugee kid can giveaway is what attracts me the most. Despite the dramatic situation and conditions they live at, those kids are a source of inspiration in positiveness and will of life.

The art of giving
The art of giving

She barely can feed her family and yet this lady decoded to give that orphaned cat a chance by bringing it inside her tent. When I asked her about it, she said the kitten was dying from hunger and cold, so I pick it up and brought him to the camp and now she's part of the family.

while some who have it all are barely willing to give, others, having almost nothing are always ready to give it all.

Showtime

One of the most striking scene I came across during my refugee-camps visit. a satellite TV set is not something you would expect to see in such places, yet, there it was and as a bonus, a group of kids were enjoying the show from a opening in the backside of their "fortunate" neighbour's tent.
